THE ESSENTIAL CONDITION FOR OBSERVING A RAINBOW IS THAT THE OBSERVER MUST STAND WITH HIS BACK TOWARDS THE SUN.
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF RAINBOW ÷
1.PRIMARY RAINBOW
2. SECONDARY RAINBOW
1.PRIMARY RAINBOW : IT IS BRIGHEST RAINBOW HAVING VIOLET COLOUR INSIDE MAKING AN ANGLE 41° WITH THE AXIS OF THE RAINBOW AND RED COLOUR OUTSIDE MAKING AN ANGLE OF 43° . IT IS FORMED BY TWO REFLECTIONS AND ONE TOTAL INTERNAL REFLECTION OF LIGHT INCIDENT ON THE DROPLETS.
2. SECONDARY RAINBOW : IT IS FAINTED RAINBOW HAVING RED COLOUR INSIDE MAKING AN ANGLE 51° WITH THE AXIS OF THE RAINBOW AND VOILET COLOUR OUTSIDE MAKING AN ANGLE OF 54° . IT IS FORMED BY TWO REFLECTION AND TWO TOTAL INTERNAL REFLECTION OF LIGHT INCIDENT ON THE DROPLETS.
