WHAT IS ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM ? / EXPLAIN ITS FOLLOWING BANDS

ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM: WHEN WE CLASSIFY ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES ON THE BASIC OF FREQURNCY OR WAVELENGTH IS CALLED ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM.

THERE ARE SEVEN BANDS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM:

1. GAMMA RAYS : THEY ARE DISCOVERED BY BECQUREL IN THE YEAR 1896. THEY ARE PRODUCED WHEN ELECTRON JUMPS FROM HIGHER ORBIT TO LOWER ORBIT OF AN ATOM. 

2. X- RAYS: THEY ARE DISCOVERED BY PROFESSOR. ROENTEGAN IN 1895 . THEY ARE PRODUCED BY BOMBARDING HIGH ATOMIC NUMBER SUBSTANCE BY ELECTRONS. THEY CAN PASS- THROUGH FLESH BUT NOT THROUGH BONES.

3. ULTRA VIOLET RAYS: THEY WERE DISCOVERED BY RITTER IN 1801. THEY ARE PRODUCED BY THE EXCITATION OF ATOMS AND MOLECULE. ALSO SUN IS THE MAIN SOURCE OF ENERGY OF THESE RAYS.

4. VISIBLE RAYS: IT IS THE MOST POPULAR ELECTROMAGNETIC RAYS WHICH CAN BE SEEN BY HUMAN BEINGS. IT CONTAIN SEVEN COLOURS. THEY ARE PRODUCED BY THE EXCITATION OF VALENCE ELECTRONS.

5. INFRA- RED WAVES : THEY ARE ALSO KNOWN AS HEAT RADIATION INFRARED WAVES ARE PRODUCED BY HOT BODIES OR BY EXCITATION OF ATOMS AND MOLECULES.

6. MICRO- WAVES : THEY ARE PRODUCED BY THE OSCILLATING ELECTRONS IN A CAVITY OR BY SPECIAL VACUME TUBES.

7. RADIO WAVES: THESE ARE ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES LONGEST TO ALL WAVES. THESE WAVES CAN BE PRODUCED BY OSCILLATING CHARGE IN THE CIRCUIT.
