POLYMERS

THE WORD POLYMER IS DERIVED FROM TWO GREEK WORDS "POLY" MEANS MANY AND "MER" MEANS UNIT OR PART . THE TERM POLYMER IS DEFINED AS VERY LARGE MOLECULE HAVING HIGH MOLECULE MASS THESE ARE ALSO REFERRED TO AS MACROMOLECULE .

POLYMERS ARE HIGH MOLECULE MASS COMPOUND WHOSE STRUCTURE ARE COMPOSED OF A LARGE NUMBER  OF SIMPLE REPEATED UNITS . THE REPEATED UNITS ARE USUALLY OBTAINED FROM LOW MOLECULE MASS SIMPLE COMPOUND CALLED MONOMERS .

THE PROCESS OF JOINING TOGETHER OF A LARGE NO SIMPLE SMALL MOLECULE  (MONOMERS), TO MAKE VERY LARGE MOLECULE (POLYMERS)  IS TERMED AS POLYMERIZATION
